My Laos Lover Revealed

Do you know the simple truths of Scripture you quickly and honestly quit frequently forget about? Or truths/promises/principles you believe but don’t always act, talk or walk like you believe them? I’m major guilty. In Laos I found myself struggling once again with living in the beautiful truth that God loves me. A few days towards the end of my time in Laos I was having a particularly ugly pity party for myself and upset no one was telling me they loved me or even that I was appreciated. While I was reflecting on this during my morning quiet time I remembered a playlist I made in Zambia of songs about God’s love. I immediately started listening to those songs and just sat there and closed my eyes and repeated in my head the words I was listening to.

Lines like…

Oh the deep, deep, love of Jesus.

How deep the Father’s love for us.

Underneath me, all around me, is the current of His love.

There is no disappointment in your eyes. There is no shame there is only pride.

I am loved. Father I’m loved by you.

So unreserved, Your heart for me.

I am your child and that’s all that matters.

… I kept repeating these lines over and over to myself.

After I listened to about 3-4 songs I found the daily devotional book that one of my teammates reads every morning and shares with whoever the Lord tells him to, there on the table in front of me. That morning the Lord told my teammate to share the devotion with me. You’ll never guess the topic of the devotion for that day, February 24th. GOD’S LOVE!  A few of the lines that really hit me hard were “Be still in the light of my presence, while I communicate love to you. You are constantly away of limitations: your own and others’. But there is no limit to my love; it fills all of space, time and eternity. If you were to experience the full height and width and depth of God’s love now, you would be overwhelmed to the point of feeling crushed. For now, the knowledge of my loving presence is sufficient to carry you through each day.” The verses shared at the bottom were from 1 Corinthians 13:12 and Ephesians 3:16-19. If that wasn’t confirmation straight from the Lord of His love for me, I don’t know what is. Afterwards my teammate asked me if the devotion spoke to me in anyway and I shared with him how it was spot on. He then prayed for me and shared a vision he got from the Lord of me watching a movie on an old film reel and he got the sense I was suppose to watch Him. I laughed because watching seems too easy. But the more I thought about it I realized how much of a ‘doer’ I am and just sitting back and watching can be very challenging for me.

So there I was sitting in Vientiane, Laos at Dream Home Hostel when I found love. God’s love. It’s a love I have to daily remind myself of because I know it won’t be long before I find myself back at the point of self-pity and needing another “Jesus loves me” wake up call. If you need a reminder God loves you, here it is: God loves you so much! He sees YOU every second! He wants YOU every day! He chooses YOU every time! There is NO LIMIT to HIS LOVE for YOU! There, now you too just found love wherever you are reading this blog:) Isn’t it the best feeling?

And in case you’re not already smiling, here’s twin precious baby girls to ensure that smile!

  1. So good Khurry! Praying that you would continue to know the height and depth of God’s love for you as you share it with those around you.

  2. Gods timing was right on. Always is, sometimes we just don’t realize it. So glad that you got that reassurance. I will be praying that you continue to see how much he loves you. Oh and definitely cute babies.

  3. Being blessed by my own daughter’s writings of her experiences with the Lord is a blessing beyond words! I thank the Lord for continuing to reveal Himself and His love to you. And thank you for sharing it with us. You are, indeed, greatly loved both by your Heavenly Father and your earthly father! I love you. Your mother and I and your siblings and nieces and nephews can’t wait to see you again in a few months.
