It’s been over a year in the States, therefore I’m due for some time overseas! Let me give you a quick overview of this past year.
I so enjoyed getting to work on a farm and start my own garden this year in Gainesville, Georgia. I loved working through each new phase of seeding, watering, weeding, pruning, harvesting, and cooking it up. Learning something new each day and enjoying each new season in the garden. It truly was my place of peace and where the Lord caught my attention and spoke to me time and time again.
On top of the full time care of my garden baby, I advised and launched a World Race squad in our newest program, Gapless Gap Year. I loved getting to walk alongside 25 students as they prepared for this four month trip in Europe. Fundraising, meeting, packing, preparing spiritually. I honestly was sad when I wasn’t able to launch with them in August. But my garden made it impossible at that time to be able to.
At that time I started thinking of what the coming year was going to look like. Was the Lord going to give me another season in the garden? I hoped so. But I also wanted to do something more with the World Race. That’s when I got asked to be a squad mentor for the four month January Semester’s trip to Costa Rica and Colombia. This is when all I had been praying for came together. While the garden rests from December-March I was wanting to go visit a ministry in Costa Rica I had worked a little with during my time living in Costa. The ministry there has expanded and changed so much and I also wanted to just squeeze the missionaries necks and provide some extra hands and encouragement as they’ve been under heavy spiritual attack. Then I was hoping to finally visit Guatemala. We have a missions base there I’ve been wanting to see and a former squad mate of mine just moved there. Lo-and-behold the ministry the Semester’s squad will be at in January is the same one I was planning on visiting!
So what will the new year look like for me? January 10th we will kick off leadership training for a week and then jump into a 10 day training camp with the racers. At the end of January I will launch out with my squad of 10 racers and spend 2-3 weeks with them in Costa Rica. I will be there to help them get settled into new squad norms, consistent team times, and healthy rhythms. The first couple weeks on the field are crucial to setting the whole trip up well so I’m excited to be able to hands on disciple the group and serve alongside them during that time.
After that time in Costa, I will fly over to Guatemala and spend probably two weeks planning, dreaming, and asking the Lord what He has for me in the new year. I’ll also have plenty of time for enjoying the beautiful culture and food in Guatemala and getting to visit the different ministries the WR is involved with. My goal is to leave Guatemala with fresh vision, desires and renewed passion.
As I step into squad mentoring for the next four months, I’m offering my time as a volunteer, trusting the Lord with both the calling and the provision. I’m trusting Him to provide for every need along the way. If you feel led to partner with me through giving, your support is a blessing which allows me to continue to serve faithfully where He has placed me at this time. You can give online through my support link below or through Venmo (@Khurry-Bullard).
Please join me in faithfully praying for the squad for God to begin preparing them and softening their hearts toward Him. I pray this season is transformative in so many ways for each of them. Also be praying for the ministry in Costa Rica and Colombia they will be serving at as it takes a lot of work to prepare to host a team.
I am blessed to once again have the privilege to lead individuals who are hungry for the Lord and get to share my passion for missions alongside them. My prayer is for each of us to behold a greater, richer understanding of who God is and therefore who we are as His children. Thank you for joining me on another adventure and for all your faithful support.
